I've been an armchair enthusiast of Cosmology/Astronomy for years and all I can say is that the more I read the more confusing it all becomes. It seems that theories are being accepted despite how strange they seem. Of course they fit the observations but I'm not sure that's enough as some caveats are included which seem to be unprovable. One thing I've realised is that the "Big Bang" is a rather poor name and the idea that everything came from a singularity, that is an infinitely dense single point, seems strange. I say that because the "Big Bang" occurred everywhere at the same time. So it's more like a balloon, filled with paint, falling from a great height and exploding on a pavement. To explain the accepted theory, the Universe as we see it inflated to pretty much the size it is now. It lasted 10 −36 seconds after the Big Bang to sometime between 10 −33 and 10 −32 seconds. So the Universe inflated faster than the speed of light, which is
